What are the benefits of new windows or doors?
New windows and doors provide energy efficiency, low maintenance and ease of cleaning. Along with improving the value of your home they also provide peace of mind and enjoyment.
What is an ER Rating?
The term “ER rating” means Energy Rating (ER)—a value demonstrating the balance between U-factor, SHGC and air leakage. The higher the number, the more efficient the product. (This value applies to windows and doors only).

What does Energy Star 2020 mean?

Canada’s consumer reference standard for fenestration recently got a large overhaul. Instead of subdividing the country into multiple climate zones, a single standard now applies nationally. Plus, the bar for energy efficiency in windows and doors has been raised higher than before.

If you’ve ever read about replacement windows and doors, you have heard about Energy Star® Climate Zones, as well as about some metrics used for the performance of a fenestration product.

Here is what you need to know about Energy Star®, the new standards in effect as of January 2020, as well as how it affects you as a homeowner: https://www.nrcan.gc.ca/energy-efficiency/energy-star-canada/about-energy-star-canada/participant-resources/2020-guidelines-energy-star-fenestration/22206
